SYLLD 2025 BannerABOUT SELF CARE KITS:

Mental health experts describe the increase in mental health challenges due to COVID-19 the “echo or shadow pandemic”. More than three-quarters (78%) of Canadians say their mental health has been impacted by COVID-19. The pandemic has affected children and families: 59% of parents noted behavioral changes in their child ranging from outbursts or extreme irritability to drastic changes in mood, behavior or personality and difficulty sleeping/altered sleeping patterns as well as persistent sadness. United Way invests in programs and services that provide everything from recreation to parenting supports, with the goal of helping people build skills for independent living, manage mental health and medical issues, and provide opportunities to be part of a connected and caring community.
