 ABOUT PERIOD PROMISE:

Periods are a fact of life. Menstruation products are a basic necessity, but if you’re living in poverty – or vulnerable in other ways – access to tampons, pads, cups or menstrual underwear can be challenging. There’s often a silence around periods and period poverty – it’s a matter of health, dignity and social isolation that we simply can’t ignore. The Period Promise campaign by UWGH mobilizes local citizens to be a part of the solution – getting products into the hands of those who need them most, and advocating for change in the community.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

Volunteers are asked to create period promise kits that UWGH will distribute to agencies and individuals in need. Through our Period Promise initiative, we work with a number of local organizations and groups to ensure much needed products get into the hands of people who need them. Each kit should contain a variety of products. Please pack as many kits as you are comfortable with. The supplies below are just a guide; please feel free to include items that you personally find useful for stress relief.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

Supplies (below are just suggested supplies and don’t all have to be incorporated)

      Feminine pads

      Feminine protection tampons

      Feminine panty liners

      Ziploc bags to hold items

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.     Layout all the purchased supplies on a table making piles of each product

2.     Pack a variety of products in each plastic bag (Example: 3 overnight pads, 5 super tampons, 3 regular tampons, 3 liners).

3.     Take a picture of the completed kits and tag us on Instagram, Facebook or X.

4.     Get creative and write an encouraging note with your own personal greeting.  Example “Thinking of you” or “Share some of your kindness today too”

5.     Place completed kits in a box.

6.     Drop kit(s) off to one of our warehouse spaces (Burlington or St. Catharines) on the dates below.
