 ABOUT THE PROJECT:

Mental illness shouldn’t lead to poverty, but far too often it does. Discrimination prevents many from education and employment, making it hard to earn a livable income. As a result, many spend years below the poverty line, facing limited options and daily hardship. People with mental illness often live in chronic poverty, unable to break the cycle due to stigma and systemic barriers. In our communities, 1 in 6 youth live with mood or anxiety disorders, and 46% of high schoolers report poor or fair mental health.

Volunteers are asked to create self-care kits that UWHH will distribute to agencies to be used by individuals struggling with their mental health. These kits will help create a relaxing atmosphere for individuals who can indulge in some much-needed self-care. Each kit should contain a variety of products. The supplies below are just a guide; please feel free to include items that you personally find useful for stress relief.
